Spectrum Lab is a New Zealand-owned laboratory and compliance consultancy providing independent testing, evaluation, and advisory services to support product compliance for the New Zealand and Australian markets.

Established in 1988, we have supported manufacturers, importers, distributors, and product developers across a wide range of industries. Our work focuses on helping organisations understand and meet applicable regulatory and standards-based requirements through clear guidance and technically sound processes.

Spectrum Lab operates an IANZ-accredited laboratory for specific test methods and scopes and provides compliance consultancy and coordination services independent of laboratory accreditation.

Spectrum Lab supports clients by assessing products against applicable standards, reviewing existing certifications, coordinating additional testing where required, and assisting with compliance documentation.

Spectrum Lab’s role is to assist clients in navigating regulatory requirements by:

  • Assessing products against applicable standards
  • Reviewing existing international certifications and test reports
  • Identifying additional assessments or testing required for local supply
  • Providing technical interpretation and documentation support

We do not act as a regulatory authority. Instead, we support our clients by providing independent technical evaluation and structured compliance pathways based on available evidence.

    Evaluation of product information, intended use, and existing certifications.

  2. Gap Assessment

    Identification of differences between overseas certification and NZ/AU requirements.

  3. Testing and Evaluation

    Independent testing conducted within the scope of our accreditation, or coordination of testing through accredited third-party laboratories where appropriate.

  4. Documentation Support

    Preparation of Supplier Declarations of Conformity (SDoCs) and supporting technical documentation based on test results and evaluations.

  5. Ongoing Support

    Assistance with product updates, variations, and evolving regulatory expectations.

    This approach provides clarity, traceability, and confidence throughout the compliance process.
